$2.7 million settlement in 2007 NYE porch death

November 29, 2010 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — A settlement was reached with the family of a man who died in a New Year’s Eve porch accident in 2007 in Chicago’s Lakeview community.

Michael Doyle, 25, was at an apartment in the 3100-block of North Clark when he fell through a porch rail while trying to adjust his chair. The apartment’s management company, Kenard Management Corporation, has agreed to pay Doyle’s family $2.7 million.

Doyle is from Cincinnati. He was living in Chicago and working for a futures trading firm at the time of his death.
