Families Should Be on Guard for Nursing Home Neglect

February 4, 2011. By Brenda Craig Email to a friendEmail

New York, NY: Families of nursing home residents need to be on guard says personal injury and medical malpractice attorney Paul Dansker. “There are a few basic problems that occur over and over again,” says Dansker. “And those problems can be very, very dangerous.”

Families Should Be on Guard for Nursing Home NeglectAs Dansker points out, many times, nursing home residents are frequently unable or even afraid to speak out about problems in their facility, so family scrutiny is required at all times.

Bedsores are never acceptable and it can indicate that proper care is absent. “If the person is incapacitated, they have to be turned on a regular basis,” says Dansker. “Bedsores can cause horrible infections, and even lead to amputations of limbs, or even death.”
