(Crain’s) — Peoples Energy sued high-profile Chicago lawyer Theodore Tetzlaff on Wednesday for malpractice, alleging he authorized the destruction of documents in a class-action suit in violation of a court order.
The lawsuit, which also names Mr. Tetzlaff’s firm, Ungaretti & Harris LLP, seeks at least $4.66 million. Most of that is the difference between the amount for which Peoples settled the case and the lower amount it believes would have been accepted had the documents not been destroyed, according to the complaint, filed in Cook County Circuit Court.
